PSO2’s hottest quest returns for a limited time! The [ARKS Ship Fire Swirl] Emergency Quest will appear at pre-scheduled times, now supporting up to XH difficulty. Lambda Grinders can be awarded through clearing Emergency Trials, so grab your rescue guns and fight those fires!

You can even pick up some [Weapon Badges] by clearing the quest.

ARKS Grand Prix Challenge Quest

Alongside the Phantasy Star Festa 2016 event is a new [ARKS Grand Prix]! This offline tournament welcomes players from all over Japan to compete for the fastest times at clearing quests specially crafted for the event.

Players can utilize a new preliminaries practice quest to hone their skills beforehand. This quest takes place on Shironia, pitting players against enemy Darkers and Kuronites. Your time will be recorded up until you defeat Gigur Gunne-gam in the final area.

In order to accept the quest, you will need enter a Challenge Block on either your own ship or the shared ship. Access the terminal in the campship and choose a class setup of Hunter, Ranger, Force, Braver, or Bouncer before beginning the quest.

While you won’t gain items or experience, you can earn some Challenge Miles and even a title when you clear the quest. Unlike in the actual Grand Prix Preliminaries, players will be able to place items from the item menu onto the field.

Harukotan Time Attack

Introducing the [Extermination Practice: Harukotan] Time Attack quest! Race against the clock, slaying hordes of Kuronite and Toy Darker foes in quick succession and defeating the Gal Gryphon boss awaiting at the end. Unlike other Time Attack quests, defeated enemies will not award items or experience.

Klotho will receive a new client order, tasking you with clearing the new Time Attack quest. While you’re at it, you can take on Girard’s new rare enemy client order targeting Gal Gryphon and Gryphon Gels.

Genesis Weapon Camos

The Genesis weapons wielded by the Council of Six, Theodor, and Matoi can now be yours in the form of new weapon camos. Completing the Matter Boards of each episode will net you some [Creator’s Emblem] title rewards! This item can be traded in at Zieg’s shop to receive a Genesis weapon camo of your choosing.

Christmas Lobby

The Christmas season is finally here and to celebrate, Sega is implementing this year’s Christmas lobby! More beautifully illuminated than ever, the lobby features even more festive decorations.

＊スノーキャノンマン (Snow Cannon Man)

Sensing Christmas approaching, Xie comes dashing through the snow to offer a new set of client orders! Complete them to receive the frosty [＊Snow Cannon Man ] weapon camo for launchers.

＊イクスシュレイラ (Ixschrayla)

The Christmas 2015 Bingo joins her with objectives perfect for the fourth edition of the Merry Christmas on Ice quest. Players will be rewarded with presents like boosters and the [＊Ixschrayla ] gunslash weapon camo for advancing through the bingo card.

Merry Christmas on Ice 4

The seasonal [Merry Christmas on Ice 4] Emergency Quest returns with a new installment! Various Toy Darkers will be encountered alongside the Tundra’s natives, with frequent appearances by Falz Douran and Dorill. Nyau will also appear, capable of summoning Gal Gryphon onto the field.

Dio Hunar makes its debut in battle form, tormenting players with attacks more fearsome than Viel. Upon defeat, it may drop Phantasmal Ares Stones used in trading at the Pyroxene Exchange Shop for Ares series weapons.

NPCs like Patty and Tiea will arrive during Emergency Trials, donning Christmas outfits and accessories. Players can wear Christmas costumes as well for a PSE Costume Bonus Effect, slightly increasing experience gain and the rare drop rate.

Episode 3 Side Story

This chapter introduces Aurora, a mysterious girl who claims to be the “Original” Apprentice. Her sudden arrival prompts Afin and Euclita to travel around Lillipa to investigate the reason why she appeared. They arrived at the Corrupted Region, but Aurora, sensing something inside, advances forward ignoring the attempts to stop her.

Google Authentication System

Alternative Login Method for OTP Users

PSO2 players should be well aware of the frequent issues that have been plaguing the One-Time Password service. Coming mid-December, PSO2 will implement Google Authenticator as an alternative way for OTP users to connect to the game. Just like before, once you’ve entered your SEGA ID and password, you must enter the code issued by Google Authenticator to log into the game. Once the service goes live, the One-Time Password Registration Guide will be updated using Google Authenticator as the default method.

OTP Campaign Participants

OTP Campaign participants who wish to switch over to Google Authenticator, can do so without losing their monthly streak. Players who cancel their OTP service have until 23:59 JST of the very same day to re-register their account with an OTP service. If they re-register their account after midnight passes in Japan, then their monthly streak will reset to being their 1st month.

Mining Base Defense: Demise

Deep underground, beneath the devastated mining base of Lillipa, lies a new threat. In the [Mining Base Defense: Demise] Emergency Quest, players will proceed to the depths to wipe out Apprentice and prevent the resurrection of Dark Falz.

Like previous Mining Base quests, the ARKS must defend the remaining bases while repelling waves of Darker adversaries. Demise will be the toughest battle yet, with the inclusion of Darkers both new and old.

Dark Falz Apprentice Gia emerges during the final wave, with extensive attacks that can blast players away. It can also summon enemies that self-destruct, and can amass an attack with enough destructive force to utterly demolish a base.

A.I.S. corrupted by Darkers are among the new enemies players will face. These A.I.S. Exoda will terrorize players with the very moves once used to assist them.

Small insect Darkers known as Damoth will swarm the bases like bees, seeking to self-destruct and cause large amounts of damage.

※[Demise] is a pre-scheduled emergency quest and will only appear at the times listed at the official site.

Orbit Assault Systems

The peculiar new “Orbit” series of ★13 weapons can be obtained from Mining Base: Demise. Each part of the weapon is arranged around a Photon ring when sheathed. However, unsheathing the weapon changes not only its appearance, but also the effects of its potential ability. In other words, the effects of the potential differs when the weapon is sheathed or unsheathed.

These weapons can also be acquired from Zieg through exchanging Pleiades Stones and Torana Fragments. Pleiades Stones can be found in any of the Mining Base Defense quests.

Blue Oni CASTs

Shiki and Oudo are back with new blue variations! Ao Oni-hime Shiki and Ao Oni-bou Oudo, once again designed by Masaki APSY, will be located in the lobby for a limited time. Complete their client orders to receive the partner cards of both characters.

Expect to see them during Emergency Trials in the Shironia and Kuron fields.

Ragol Memory Lineup (Vol. 6)

The costumes and accessories of the original Phantasy Star Online’s FOnewm and FOnewearl will be added to the Ragol Memory Exchange shop. The full listing of items can be viewed here.

The final scratch of the year is here, featuring a collaboration with Nippon Ichi Software’s [Disgaea 5]. NPCs Afin, Euclita, and even Aurora’s costumes will be included, alongside the new CAST parts of Shiki and Oudo.

WEB Event [X-Mas Campaign]

Merry Christmas, everyone! With a new year just around the corner, it’s time to begin the holiday festivities. Even Dudu is in on the fun, ready to deliver gifts to all the good players who participate in the X-Mas campaign.

The event begins on December 14th, tasking players with defeating a certain enemy each day. If the mission is successful, we’ll unlock prizes that will be distributed in late December.

Do note, however, that the event takes place outside of the game, on the campaign’s official website. More details can be found below:

Click the BIG YELLOW BUTTON at the Campaign’s Website

 

Enter your SEGA ID and Password.
Press the green ｢ログイン｣ button to continue.

 

Click on the button labeled [PUSH] to damage the enemy.
You can click on this button up to 5 times a day!

 

Click the [Push] button again to [Retweet] the campaign on twitter.
Doing so deals even more damage to the enemy.
You can perform this action once per day.

Campaign Qualifications

• Players can earn various prizes by participating in defeating the enemy.
• Players can also qualify if they attack an enemy that was already defeated earlier in the day.
• Players will have until 23:59 JST of the appointed day to qualify for the prizes listed on that day.

※ Only players who log in through the Campaign’s website and press the button to damage the enemy will qualify for the prizes on that day. Merely retweeting the campaign’s tweet outside of the campaign’s official site will not qualify you for the prizes listed for that day.

※ Failing to defeat the enemy will disqualify everyone from receiving the prizes for that day.

One-time Passwords are an extra layer of security to help prevent unauthorized access into your PSO2 account. Players who wish to register for this service will now have the option of choosing either Secure OTP or Google Authenticator. Each method has its own pros and cons, so we advise players to think carefully about which authentication method they’d like to use.

Google Authenticator Method

Google Authenticator is the newest method in protecting your account with a One-Time Password. All the perks available to OTP users also apply to those who sign up through Google Authenticator.

Before we begin, there are several things you’ll need to know:

• Failing to input the correct One-time Password several times will result in your PSO2 account getting locked.
• Having a locked account through the Google Authenticator method requires you to fill out a form to SEGA.
  
• This form is available by navigating to the SEGA Support page.

Due to the above situation, it is possible to be permanently locked out of the account if SEGA refuses to offer assistance to players outside of Japan. We will append this guide with more information after players report their experiences with the support form.

Registering a One-Time Password

This guide will cover the registration process for Google Authenticator.

Step 1: Download Google Authenticator on your Android Device.

Step 2: Log into the SEGA ID page.

• If you don’t feel like changing your password,
  click [今回はパスワードを変更しない].

Step 3: Click the blue [登録情報へ] link at the top of the page.

• If you’re on the AC Page, click the [登録情報管理] button at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Enter Birthday and Email

Step 4: Click the radio button as indicated in the screenshot and enter your birthday.

• Enter your birth year, two-digit month, and two-digit day.
• Enter your email address at the bottom of the page.
• Press ｢次へ｣ to continue.

Step 5: OTP Settings

Step 5: Scroll down until you reach [Google認証システム 未設定].

• Click the ｢ワンタイムパスワード設定｣ button to continue.

 

Step 6: QR Code

Step 6: From Google Authenticator, tap the three dots at the top right corner and select [Set up Account].

• Tap [Scan a Barcode] and download the app it requests.
• Scan the barcode.
• On the website, type the 6 digit code in the form beneath [確認コード].
• Press [登録] to register the code.

Step 7: OTP Deletion Code

Step 7: Copy the OTP deletion code [解除コード] and store it in a safe location.

※ We strongly recommend saving this code in a secure location in case your device gets lost or stolen!

Using your One-time Password

A One-time Password will be required upon signing in. Failing to input the correct password several times will result in your PSO2 account getting locked. The only way to unlock your account is to contact SEGA by filling out the SEGA Support form.

Removing your OTP

Sign into the SEGA ID Management page.

 

The second step will require a one time password.

 

Click the 登録情報へ link at the top and enter your details.

(Enter your birth year and email address.)

 

Click [ワンタイムパスワード設定].

 

Click the [解除] button to delete the OTP.

A One-time password is an optional extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access into the account. Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist those who lose access or get locked out of their accounts. Players should perform this procedure at their own risk!

Before we start, there are a few things you’ll need to be aware of:

• You may find yourself locked out of the account if you lose your smartphone and fail to remember your OTP account details.
• Your account will be locked after the sixth time you fail to input the correct One-time Password.
  
• Once activated, OTPs will be required upon logging into the game and when changing your password.
• You will have trouble removing the OTP service if you fail to remember your SEGA ID’s email address and birthday.

What will I need to setup a One-Time Password?

• Android 1.6+ smartphone or tablet OR iOS (iPhone/iPod) device.
• Android 5.0+: Download SecureOTP2 at the Play Store.
• Android 1.6+: Download Secure OTP at the Play Store
• iOS: Download i-SecureOTP at the App Store
• A Sega ID Account.

Menu Button Missing?

• If you’re using Bluestacks, we recommend downloading the SecureOTP2 application instead.
• In very rare circumstances, you may have to change some settings in your smartphone to get the menu button to appear.

 

Registering a OTP

This guide will cover registration for the Android version of SecureOTP2.

Step 1: Download SecureOTP2 on your Android Device.

Step 2: Log into the One-time Coupon page.

Step 3: Create an account on the SecureOTP2 android app. (The messages appear in English)

• Press the 3 dot softkey to open the menu.
• Press the “Account” button.
• Type in a Nickname, Secret Question, and Secret Answer. *
• The app will proceed to ask for a Coupon Code.

*It is imperative to save the above information in another location, in case your device gets lost or stolen.

 

Step 4: Press the blue button クーポンコードを発行する at the One-Time Coupon site.

• The string of letters that display above are known as the “Coupon Code”

Step 5: Type this Coupon Code in the SecureOTP2 android application.

 

Step 6: Look for a serial number below your nickname in the SecureOTP2 app, and enter it into the top form.

• Enter your serial number in the top field.
• Enter your One-time Password in the bottom field.
• Press the [登録] button directly underneath the form.

 

Congratulations, you have completed the OTP registration!

 

Using your One-time Password

Upon signing in, press the refresh button in the SecureOTP application to acquire a new password. Warning! The account will be locked after six failed attempts. If the account is locked, you must contact the SecureOTP support team by calling 03-3500-3463 in Japan or by emailing them at otpm@thirdnetworks.co.jp. (You may type your message in English.)

Provide them with your:

• Serial Number
• Nickname

 

Removing your OTP
