Maintenance Reasoning

• Due to the confirmation of a serious bug.

The development team has confirmed a bug in which items with the [Returner II] special ability could appear in the Unit Shop. Seeing as how this bug could considerably affect the game’s balance and economy, they’ve decided it best to perform an emergency maintenance.

Course of Action

• In order to correct this bug, the development team has removed [Sub/Add Mind e] from the Unit Shop.
• In order to lower the value of [Returner II], they plan to have units attached with [Returner III] as a reward for clearing the “Escape Quest” on Extra Hard. This will be performed in a future update.

Phantom Battleship Yamato

Players will face off against the enormous Phantom Battleship Yamato in a new Emergency Quest. The first phase of the quest will have players storming the ice towards the ship. An onslaught of Phantom foes will impede your progress along the way, while the Yamato bombards players from afar.

Board the A.I.S for a final showdown with the now aerial Yamato in the second phase. The ship is heavily armed and packs a wallop, proving to be a formidable opponent even against the might of an A.I.S squadron. This is a perfect opportunity to utilize the recently added skill rings that affect A.I.S.

The quest is pre-scheduled, meaning that it will not occur randomly. Additionally, each instance of the quest can only be cleared twice per ship. Check the event calendar after the update launches to see at what times the quest is scheduled to occur. Furthermore, players can enjoy a Rare Drop Boost after the Emergency Quest is over.

Steel Prestige Collection

The [Steel Prestige Collection] of Yamato and A.I.S themed ★13 weapons will be available from Pudding until June 22nd. The collection sheets for these weapons will task you with defeating the Phantoms.

Golden Week Revival Scratch

PSO2 is celebrating the start of Golden Week this year with the launch of the GW Limited 2016 revival scratch on May 1st.

The scratch is split up into two categories: [Accessory Selection] and [Lucky Bag G]. In the first you’ll find popular hairstyles, accessories, voices, and lobby actions from past scratches. The second contains bundles of costumes, parts, accessories, and support items.

Rainy 2016 Bingo [Reverse]

The Rainy 2016 Bingo will receive its reverse side with this update. Defeat various enemies across the Driving Rain 2016 and Yamato Emergency Quests to earn prizes such as a ticket worth ten Star Gems and an Ability Affixer +40%.

New Time Attack Quest

The new [Successive Practice: The Vestiges of Darkness] Time Attack quest sends players to the Darker’s Den, where they must complete a series of boss battles in order to advance.

There are three teleporters, and each will take you to a different area containing various boss enemies. After clearing all three, you can proceed to the final battle against Falz Hunar, Angel, and Dourumble.

A new Interrupt Ranking will be added for this quest. Players can receive Star Gems as a ranking reward.

※Meseta, items, and experience will not be gained by defeating enemies in this quest.

New Story Events

Hitsugi, having parted from Mother Cluster and her best friend, decided to go with the ARKS. After a short time on the Arks Ship, she, under Xiera’s suggestion, returns to Earth to get in contact with her brother. Upon arrival, she hears a strange explosion towards the direction of the men’s dorm.

This update introduces film director Bethor Zelazny, the second apostle of Mother Cluster. Directing the Train Ghidoran, he continues to cause destruction as if to taunt our heroes.

Aika’s Partner Card

Aika, appearing on the Bridge after advancing through the Story Board, will receive a new client order. She would like to see how you handle yourself in the new Time Attack quest, after which you’ll be at last rewarded with her partner card.

Wedding Lobby

The Wedding Lobby returns for the month of June, adorning the lobby with a giant wedding cake and beautiful floral arrangements. Stage an in-game wedding and shower the happy couple with petals!

Maintenance Contents

• The development team has confirmed a bug where, under certain conditions, the Grind EXP can be increased by a very large amount when strengthening an NT weapon.

Maintenance Results

• Following their investigation, Sega will temporarily suspend accounts suspected of abusing the bug more than several times. Items affected by the bug will be collected.

Emergency Quest Rescheduling

• The [Unleashed Prestige] Emergency Quest that was scheduled for May 19th @ 23:00 JST and May 20th @ 7:00 JST have been cancelled and will be enacted again some time in the future.

Sega has finally unveiled the collection of cosmetic items coming to PSO2 as part of their collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV. The collaboration was originally announced back in March, with a teaser for an Odin boss fight.

In addition to the previously mentioned Miqo’te cosmetics, players can enjoy costumes, accessories, and weapons from the Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, and Dark Knight classes! A glimpse of a Moogle can also be spotted in this new footage.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is celebrating its four-year anniversary with a new Limited Quest, WEB Panel Event, Bingo, and the return of Xie!

Limited Quest

The festivities begin with the new [Bellowing Dragon] Limited Quest! Available until July 6th, this quest pits players against Dragonkin and Darkers alike amidst the Dragon Altar. With the quest nearing end, the “Battle Cry” Gorozoran will appear to give players a final challenge.

WEB Panel Event

Sega is launching a special site for PSO2’s 4th Anniversary, detailing a new [ARKS ORDERS RUSH] WEB panel event! By clearing the conditions of each panel, players can collectively earn a variety of rewards. The event will be held through July 20th.

Bingo & Limited Client Orders

Xie is back from vacation to offer new client orders in commemoration of PSO2’s 4th Anniversary! Among the rewards for clearing her orders is the Weapons Badge 2016 (Gold).

The 4th Anniversary Bingo card centers around our new Limited Quest, with handy rewards like a Star Gem Ticket and Harvesting Stamina Drink.

Star Gem Expansion

New Star Gem content will be implemented on June 15th, several days after the update launches. The first of this content is the Treasure Shop, where you can spend not only Star Gems, but Meseta as well. The selection is different per currency, however.

On the Star Gems side, you’ll find more valuable items, including Quest Triggers and the All Candy Remover. With Meseta, you can purchase Rare Enemy Triggers, Pyroxene / Spellstones, a rare weapon camo, and other useful items, such as those for Gathering.

The selection of items the shop offers changes daily; however, you can spend Star Gems to update it immediately.

Quest Triggers

With the new Quest Trigger items, players can at last initiate an Emergency Quest at any time. As of this update, only the Profound Invasion and Mining Base Defense quests will be available. Support for further quests will be added in the future.

Once you use a Quest Trigger, the item will be removed from your inventory. Upon cancelling the quest or disconnecting from the game, it will not return.

Darkness Ruler (SG Scratch)

Darkness Ruler marks the first SG Scratch, giving players a chance to spend Star Gems to receive Dark Falz Elder, Apprentice, and Persona’s cosmetics. Items within this scratch will have trade restrictions imposed upon them.

PA / Technic Customization Recipes

New Photon Art and Technic customization recipes are on the way. By using these recipes, players can alter the behavior of specific photon arts.

• Other Cyclone Type-Zero
  • Alters the span of time you’ll swing around the enemy based on how long the button is held.
• Infinity Fire Type-Zero
  • Alters the attack so you can continuously fire shots while immobile.
• Kestrel Rampage Type-Zero
  • Consumes all Gear and creates a large blade that performs slicing attacks to the enemy. 
• Deadly Circle Type-Zero
  • Makes the double saber spin around in high speed with
    “Guard Points” added into the attack. 
• Type-Zero Zonde
  • Alters the technic so that a series of lightning strikes occur within a certain range.
• Type-Zero Nazan
  • A Strong Kamaitachi (Whirlwind) effect occurs after blowing away the enemy.

Both Type-Zero Zonde and Nazan are different from the Technic customization recipes that have been released so far. Since they’re similar to PA Customization recipes, they’ll instead use support items that boost the effects of [Custom Type 1] and [Custom Type 2].

Pure Photons

A material known as Pure Photons will be added for use in creating new Skill Rings. Pure Photons will only drop in certain quests, one such being the new Limited Quest.

  • Grants resistance to the Burn status abnormality.
• R / Freeze Guard
  • Grants resistance to the Freeze status abnormality.

Franca’s Ocean Café

Franca’s Café will be transformed into a coastal resort for a limited time! This Ocean Café features a sandy beach lined with cottages and palm trees. Lounge about in a beach chair or hammock and watch the day change with the passage of time.

Shimamura Collaboration

Sega is teaming up with Japanese clothing store chain Shimamura to sell a small line of PSO2 themed t-shirts, starting June 18th. Each purchase comes with a 16-digit code for one of five sets of in-game items, including basewear recreations of the t-shirt line, and Tokyo Bonus Keys!

As part of the collaboration, Shimamura stores will appear across the Tokyo field during the June 8th update.

The content of the Login Stamp system will be adjusted to include Star Gem rewards. Put your new source of SG to use at the Treasure Shop and by playing the SG Scratch!

Weaponoid Potentials

Continuing from Claymore and Dragonslayer, comes new Weaponoid potentials for Psycho Wand, Koi Houou, Rose Flotz, Blade Dance, and Strike Brute. You can unlock these new potentials by gathering Weaponoid Boosters from PSO2es. Some of the new potentials include:

• Psycho Wand
  • Increases the rate at inflicting a status effect. Increases damage towards enemies suffering under a status effect.
• Koi Houou
  • Increases Fire technic damage.
• Strike Brute
  • Increases damage to enemies when attacking on the ground.
• Rose Flotz
  • Increases Lightning technic damage.
