Players who have been accepted to the Phantasy Star Online 2es Closed Beta Test can begin downloading the client today! However, it was noted that users outside of Japanese territories were unable to download the client. You will either have to obtain the apk separately or follow SenpaiSilver‘s guide on accessing the page through a virtual private network.
Closed Beta Test 2

- END: September 1st: 22:00 JST (Time Zone Conversion)
- In Eastern Daylight Time: August 30th: 10:00 AM EDT ~ September 1st: 9:00 AM EDT
You will only be able to log in during the dates and times listed above.
The scheduled dates and times are subject to change if unexpected issues arise.
You may download the application from the Google Play store or through other means as mentioned above. Although the application is roughly 50 MBs, an additional 450 MBs of space is required to download the game files and updates.
PSO2es Minimum Requirements

Data Communications Failed Error Message
This error message will display when the application is unable to communicate with the server. Please wait until the Closed Beta Test starts to download the rest of the data. This will go live on August 31st @ 11:00 JST.
Character data made prior to July 17th’s maintenance will be used in the Closed Beta Test. If you have multiple characters on the account, choose the character that you played since the last maintenance. Please be aware that you will start from level 1.
PSO2 es Closed Beta Restrictions:
- Hunter, Ranger, and Force classes are available.
- You can switch your class at the class counter within the “Equipment” menu.
- Subclasses are not available.
- Level 30 is the highest level you can achieve in the Beta.
- Excubes are not distributed to those with capped characters.
- Forest, Cave, and Tundra fields are available.
- Emergency Quests are not available.
- 100 RappyCoins will be distributed beforehand. Rappy Coins can be used to restore “ENERGY.”
- The Item Shop and Item Lab for Chip Grinding are available.
- Items sold in the Closed Beta Test will not affect your PC/Vita version inventory.
- Premium Set Functions are not available.
- You can own up to 30 chips in the Closed Beta Test.
- Character and Enemy balancing is subject to change in the official release version.
- Arks Cash and FUN points are not available in the Closed Beta Test.
- The Friend Referral system is not available in the Closed Beta Test.
- All character data is deleted after the closed beta test is over, and does not carry over into the official game.

The balancing used in the closed beta test is subject to change in the official version. You will be able to level up your characters to 30 in each class. The data used in the closed beta test will not carry over into the official game.
A list of the quests currently available will display on this screen. Please note the 行動力 “ENERGY” bar at the top left corner of the screen. Each quest consumes a certain amount of Energy, but the bar will regenerate over time. You will not be able to start a quest if the energy bar is completely empty.
Advancement Screen
Select a box to search in a particular area. An enemy or container may appear depending on the chosen route.
Battle Screen
Use the touch screen to defeat your foes. You can move your character by swiping at a certain direction across the screen, and you can switch enemy targets by tapping the arrows on the sides.
Chip System
The Chip System is like a sub-palette menu for the smartphone version, except you can only equip up to 5 slots at a time. Chips can perform various actions during battle, like recover HP, cast technics, or raise stats. Since there are many different kinds of chips to collect, by using the appropriate combination, you can lead yourself to victory!
武器/チップ装備 Weapon/Chip Equipment
The weapons, units, and costumes you’ve acquired from PSO2 are linked together with the Smartphone version. When you first start the game, you will have to re-equip your character’s inventory from the “Equipment” menu in the lobby.
- Weapons also have a “Mastery” percentage, when it reaches 100%, it will allow you to draw out all of the weapon’s “capabilities.”

Chip Details Window
You can equip up to 5 chips at a time. Players may earn additional chips by discovering them in quests. Tap on a chip to view detailed information regarding the stats and abilities it has..

Zeno, a fire element support chip.
There are two types of chips, “Active” types are indicated by a white tab in the top left corner. “Support” types have a black tab in the top left corner.
- Active Type: PA, Technic, HP Recovery, your run of the mill PSO2 actions.
- Support Type: Applies an effect during battle, somewhat similar to skills in PSO2.
Support chips can activate under certain conditions or when the battle starts. Some of them apply elemental damage bonuses during battle which can be useful against an enemy’s weak point.
Defense Equipment (防具装備)
Here you can equip costumes and units, however, PSO2 es will not display any units on the character.
- Units have a “Mastery” percentage, when it reaches 100%, it will allow you to draw out all of the unit’s “capabilities.”

Class Counter (クラスカウンター)
In the Closed Beta Test, you can select one of the three main classes; from top to bottom they are Hunter, Ranger, and Force.
You can sell chips, items, weapons, costumes, and units at the Item Shop in PSO2es. Please note the following:
- Weapons or items sold in the Closed Beta Test will not reflect on the data used in the PC/Vita versions.
- Some items can not be sold.
Item Lab (アイテムラボ)
You can increase a chip’s level by grinding it at the Item Lab.
First select the chip you wish to level up, then select up to 5 chips to be used as grinding materials. Warning, these chips will be destroyed in the process, so please be careful!
Other Stuff
- There’s a new currency called RappyCoins which can be used to recover “ENERGY.” You can receive RappyCoins as a reward for clearing an area.
- Some accessories will not display on your character.
